To the fans, friends and customers of Curiosities,

I must start out with a huge, heartfelt Thank you;
for the last 3 years have been most wonderful, inspirational, educational and enjoyable!

It is hard to believe that I have come this place of closing Curiosities and moving into another direction; but at the same time, I believe to those of you who know me, it?s not at all surprising.

I realize that this may seem more like a blog entry than an open letter to my customers; yet, I am and always have been an open book to my friends. I will do the same here, as I am so appreciative of each and every order placed here at Curiosities, I am appreciative of everyone who has a wish list or registered with a customer id - the least I could do in return is share my explanations and insight.

Curiosities was born out of my need and desire for a venue to sell my photographs, books and art.
The response was impressive; my handcrafted items were being snatched up as quickly as I could make them. It was a wonderful, fun time, and Curiosities was experiencing great successes. These successes enabled me to grow the business, expand the product selection and travel to more shows. I was selling at various locations almost every weekend and having a blast doing it.

The only downside to this was that I was so busy with Curiosities that I was no longer taking photos, I wasn't making art of any kind, save for the necklaces and and packaging designs. Sure, this isn't a bad thing necessarilly, success always has its price - and I was enjoying what I was doing!

Ultimately, the price I had to pay was that I couldn't find the balance between being a full time professional photographer and owner/designer of a jewelry/curiosities business at the same time. While spreading myself too thinly I didn't do justice to either outlet.

Photography and art is where my heart is. It is what I have always wanted to do with my life. It's easy to get distracted with other things, but for now, it is time for me to follow my heart.

And my heart is leading me to what I have always wanted in a career: photography.

 

I have many projects in the works, including 2 new books, all making their debuts this year. I will also be offering my services as a photographer for hire, shooting studio photography, special events, advertising, fine art and other services.
